Road Cycling – The NWCC Saturday Zube Park Ride

For over 25 years, 52 Saturdays a year, rain or shine, 75 to well over 200 road cycling enthusiast converge on the back parking lot at Zube Park in far northwest Harris County. Many are club members, and many are non-club members who are always welcomed guests. By megaphone, the Ride Starter welcomes everyone, gives a few Club announcements, then calls out the pace groups, which include 18-20 mph, 16-18 mph, 14-16 mph, and “No/Low Drop Group”. Pace groups will ride on well-paved, quiet country roads in Harris and Waller Counties. Each group will have designated leaders from club membership, and our rides will roll out separately from the other groups that leave from Zube park.

THIS IS A RAIN OR SHINE RIDE – We will only cancel this road cycling event if there are thunderstorms or worse happening at at ride start time. We will communicate that on the Facebook pages if it becomes necessary.

The Zube Park rides are a great way to check out the club and road cycling before you join. That’s because you don’t need to be a club member to come along for the ride. We do expect you to abide by all traffic laws, wear a helmet, refrain from using headphones or earbuds, and follow instructions from the ride leader.

When you get back to the park, the Club will have refreshments waiting for you. Make new friends while enjoying some cold watermelon, Gatorade, cookies and pickle juice.

If you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, been advised to get tested, or been advised to quarantine, we expect you not to ride in any of our group rides until the quarantine period has passed.
