Senior Games

The USA National Senior Games is a multi-sports competition held biannually for adults aged 50+ who live in the USA.  Events are divided up into age groups of five year intervals so 50-54, 55-59 and onwards.  There is no top age limit.  Nationals are generally held in odd-numbered years.  Qualification for the Nationals is via the State Senior Games generally held in even-numbered years.

Northwest Cycling Club has been a keen supporter of both State and National Senior Games in the past, with many cyclists “of a certain age” competing at both levels.  Medals have been won!  For cyclists, there are four events available, namely two road races of 40 km (about 26 miles) and 20 km (about 12.4 miles), and two time trials of 10 km (6.2 miles) and 5 km (3.1) miles.  The road races are tactical, and the time trials, being short, are simply out of the blocks and give it everything!
