It’s been a couple of months since the last update from yours truly, a couple of weeks of that being spent with ten different club member friends cycling the roads of Provence, France. It’s always fabulous in Provence!
The Katy Flatlands Century on July 16th was somewhat of a triumph over adversity, vandals having stolen many of the directional signs after they were positioned the night before the ride. Humans never fail to disappoint these days, but the magnificent effort by the volunteers and, in particular, Carl Grasshoff, who was ably assisted by Amy Smith, ensured that we as a club pulled off a ride event that received overwhelmingly positive comments from those who responded to our request for post-ride feedback. We had 997 registrants, just one less than last year and, as far as we know, no injuries on the ride. Thanks to all of you who volunteered in any way for the event; we can’t do it without you!
Our next event is the August club meeting on Saturday August 5th at Julias Mexican Restaurant, 5402 Hwy 6 North, 77084; we gather at 2.30 pm and we’ll buy your first drink and provide snacks. Come and join us, meet new folks, and find out what we’re up to.
We’re working on the VP Labor Day ride for members and their guests on September 4th; look out for updates on the website https://nwcc.bike/ as we develop the ride.
And in November, we’ll have elections for the four Elected Board Members – we need your votes. This time around, we’ll need a new president for sure, and perhaps a new secretary. Please vote, and if you wish to be in a position to really influence the direction in which the club is moving, you can stand for one of the four positions up for grabs, which are President, VP, Secretary and Treasurer.
Until then, please be safe, ride well, and stay healthy! See you on the road!
